Salary to Hourly Formula

Hourly Rate = Annual Salary ÷ (Hours per Week × Weeks Worked per Year)

What Each Input Means

Annual Salary is your gross annual salary before taxes.

Hours per Week is how many hours you typically work.

Weeks Worked per Year defaults to 52; lower it under More options if you take unpaid time off.

Worked Example

A $52,000 salary at 40 hours a week for all 52 weeks: Hourly Rate = $52,000 ÷ (40 × 52) = $52,000 ÷ 2,080 = $25 per hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this account for unpaid time off?

Only if you adjust "Weeks Worked per Year" under More options. The default of 52 assumes paid time off; lowering it to, say, 50 spreads your salary over fewer actual working weeks, which raises your effective hourly rate.

Is this my take-home pay per hour?

No, this is your hourly rate before taxes and any other deductions, based on your gross annual salary.
